Hume, of the tirm of Hall & Hume, nad handed to him tm his store, by a colored boy, an order for #15 worth of gro- ceries, signed by Mr. Whiteford. The boy stated that he had been sent by @ white man, who was awaiting his retarn on B street, near the Smithsonian park. Mr. Hume at once saw that the order was a forgery, and dispatched @ messenger for Lieut. Skippon, who led to the place Indicated and put the white man under ar- rest. Hi yed innocence, but the colored boy insisted that he was the man who sent him. Allen was charged with assault and battery on Oswald S. From the manner of the princ'pals during the hearing, the feeling of hatred there !s very bitten.
