A GosPEL-TENT Lano ANDHIS WIFE ARRESTED FOR STEaLING.— William H. Lewis, an usher in the gospel tent, and his wife 1 were before Justice Dutfy yes- terday, charged by Mra. Lenz, of 20f west 34th street, of stealing a watch, @ chain, and & locket "Mrs. Lenz went out to waik on Monday, and on returning missed the watch from her bureau. She told her landlady, Mrs. Wilson, aud she suspected Lewis, who occupied an adjoining room. Early yester- day morning Lewis and his wife were arrest- ed, arraigned in the Washington place court, and heid in #500 ball. Lewis told Justice Duffy that he was the superintendent of the gospel tent in the absence of Mr. South- worth, and that hehad been trusted with uncounted collections. He and his wife de- Bied their guilt. Mr. Williams, a fellow- usher, sympathized with Lewis, and having persuaded the justice to reduce the bail to $300, found siguers for the bond, but they could not qualify. The Rev. Dr. Stephen H. Tyng, jr.. wished to bail Lewis, supposing bim innocent, but u learning the facta be changed his mind.
