The nextday (Sunday) a. going off duty, went to the Lindell Hotel; saw Babcock; told him the circumstaaces, and Babcock sent him to Judge Porter, to wiom be repeated his story. He gave full details of the matter to no one but Storrs and Porter outside of bis own family. No one had been to seo him about it before he went to the Lindell Hotel. He consulted with no one but his wife. He repeated the addresses of the letters given to Joyce as Gen. 0. E. Babcock aad Col. W. 0. Avery. He would bot admit that be had twiked about the matter anybody except some letter carriers at the post office to-day. Col. As several objections bad been made lo questions and auswers, Judge Dillon, during Lhe noon recess, looked itover and marked the objections overruled aud s\ ed, leaving the deposition, how- ever, it is said, very nearly in Lhe same form it was originally. The deposition of the President gives tes- timony as to how long be had known Gea.
