Jennings died in this State avout a hundred years ago, and leti property in England valued then at fifteea wuillion dollars. Since thet time it has in- creased in value to over four hundred mil- lion. The beirs to this immense sum ia Eug- land and the state of Virginia number about onebundred. The ground of the litigation bow going on is the identity of the Virginia claimants, which is disputed by some of the nglish heirs. There are seven claimants in Kichmond, and one of the principal is a young gentleman who is a clerk in one of the stores here. He is represented in this case by Messra. T. T. Giles and Judge Haliburton and J. V. Reddy, esqs., of this city, two lawyers in Georgetown, D. C., ano the Hon. Judab P. jamin in England. He yesterday received a letter from the last mentioned distinguished law- yerin which that gentleman assures him that this tedious ease is now rapidly draw- ing to a close, and states that there is every indication that there Is every indication that the identity of the Virginia clainants will be admitted. In that event the heirs in this city would receive thirty-five million dollars, or five millions apiece. The major- ity of the other Virginia heirs reside in Lynchburg. Mr. Reddy will probably go over to England soon in the interest of bis client. The Jennings estate has been in the bands of the cashier of the Bank of Engiand, and he will continue to-hold it until the courts decide the matter.—Richnont ( Va.) hign §2-A Spanish war steamer has arrived at Port-au-Prince with presents for President Dominique, of Hayti. “7 The Chicago Tribune thiuks Jimmy Blanchard will be in the whisky ring and have afront pew at chureh when he becomes aman.—[ Boston Post. m7-It Is said that Charles Francis Adams is worth more than $2,500,000; and, besides, Adams is very rich by inheritance.
