He is a native of Georgetown, but has been engaged for some time pest in the real estate business, with &p office in this city. From the style in which he lived, it was thought he was doing & very profitable business, and after the in- Vitations to bis wedding were issued some Weeks azo, (bis intended bride being the ighter of & wealthy gentleman of this city who has a country residence at Leesburg, Va.,) it was reported that he had charter-1a *pecial train of palace ears to carry several bundred invited guests from this city to Witness the marriage ceremony at the coun- try house of the bride’s father. As stated above, the calling in of the invitations made R stir in social circles, and was quickly fol- lowed by reports of serious financial em- barrassments and “irregularities” intended to conceal the same, which gave great pain to the friends of the young gentleman and his Intended wife and’ their respective fami- Nes. That many of the reports in cirenlation were exai ied there is no doubt. The real state of the case is not likely to be made | known to the public, however, as those most directly interested will probably take meas- ures, if they have not already done so, to guard against the publicity’ which would come with the institution of legal proceet- ings. —o—_—_—.
