A GOOD DEAL OF ARGUMENT AND NOT MUCH EVIDENCE. Franklin Woodruff was reeallad and te-tt fied: Prior to my interview with Tracy in Moulton’s study, I had two other interviews with Tracy; oné alone and the other in Moul- ton’s presence. Mr. Evarts objected to these interviews being given, and argument en- Sued. The judge allowed them in evidence. Witness continued—In that interview with Tracy I said that Tilton’s charge against Beecher was adultery. Mr. Beach asked wit- hess if he told Tracy that Beecher had an- vanced $500 for the relief of Tilton’s family Mr. Evarts objected to this 3 other ar- nt took place, but the court raled_ the admissible, aad witness said: I did { information to Mr. Tracy. T witness was asked if in that intervie’ fall of 1872, Mr. Tilton said to Mr. Tracy that his wife was not guilty of adultery with Beecher. This caused a third and long argu- ment. Witness finally said 1 do not recollect that this occurred: I never remember hearing Tilton say Beecher was an aduiterer; nor Tracy saying, “with your wife,” neither Tilton replying, “no, with an- other woman, or other women.” The court here adjourned for the day. The Matrimonial Troubles of Mrs. James A. Oat A DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP AND A DIVISION OF THE TROUPE. The San Francisco papers give the follow- ing particulars of the reported matrimonial troubles between Mrs. James A. Oates and her second husband, Tracy Titw “Itappears that the troupe is always ac companied by two ladies, of whom, of course, gallantry forbids any but iavorable mention. One of these was Mrs. Gates’ Miss Pauline Merritt, and the other, alas! their mother, Mrs. Merritt. These two la boarded elsewhere, and Titus Tracy anc wife at the Occident. Mrs. Oates had consult - yer, and diverted the proceeds, amonnting to some £12,000 since then, to her own nse. Her lawyers impressed upon he ef that TRACY WAS HER DEPENDENT, and that the success of the company was due ely to her exertions. She too willingly nored his efforts, and acted accordingly. The company divided. John Howson, Drew. Jones, Williams, nd some of the chorus, joined Mrs. Oates; Woodfield, Alien, his wife, Miss Larkelle, and most of the choras, remained with Tracy Tit There are now two rival organizations, with the prospect of a divorce. THE Loss OF THE STEAMER St. LUKE— Nine Lives Lost.—Some additional particulars regarding the loss of the steamer St. Luke ou the Missouri river (mentioned in yesterday's STakR), have been learned from ‘passengers who came down from St. Charles to St. Louis by railroad. The night was very dark and the lights on the bridge were very dim. She made water very rapidly, but floated down about two miles, when she struck a bar in the middle of the river and sunk to her hurricane ¢ ‘The passengers rushed from their berths in great terror and ran hither and thither, panie-stricken.
