In this ease the appellee (Walsh) took posression of certain pzcmises, as he alleges, bheér an agreemént ‘nh January. 271, ana paid rent for three months, the defendant in the meantime promising to execute the lease, and in May he had prepared a lease and requested defendant to sign it. but she Tefused, and he then deelined to pay rent. A few moments later three men entered the oon carrying Humphreys, who they said was frozen, and laid him down by the stove. -y had gone the bar-keeper attempted Humphreys, and then saw that he was dead, and had apparently been so for some time. On Wednesday evening Hum phreys crept into the loft of Whelan’s stab! sed went to sleep, as he fell through the hatchway to the floor below. On the 27th young German, who had lingered for over a year on th ragged edge of disappointment in love, shot himself in the head and leaped into the Mor- ris canal. Guntseh left two letters—one to Caroline Rotgor, the woman he loved, and another to John Rotgor, her father, disposing of his property. Hawke boarded with Mr. Retgor at the time of his friend’s death and up to last Monday, when he resolved to change his place of abode.
