Several of the large clothing establishments spend nearly as much, and the leading houses im many other lines of business patronize the newspapers almost as liberally. In short, it nas come to be recognized as an established fact that no person can become preeminently suc- | cessful in any branch of business without eys- tematic and persistent advertising. Here and there 8 few houses, favored with large capital and experienced manazers, slowly accumalate Wealth without publishing their business if lucky through a long series of years; but very large fortunes are made rapidly only by adver- tising largely. Advertisements are as essential | to the development of busineés as rain is to the | | growing crops. Without rainsa little something may be raised, but nothing less than frequent and copious showers will insure a first clas; barvest. Itis just so with advertising and busi- ness. At last accounts he was somewhat better, and bis recovery was regarded as certain.
