A Girsy Story.—The New York Herald and the New York Sun publish lengthy correspond- ence from Mount Pleasant, Pa., under date of July 22, in which are given ‘‘extraordin: revelations” of a double murder alleged to have been committed by the chief of a band of gip- sies now traveling in that vicinity, in which the victims were a girl who was kidnapped by the gipsies in England some years ago, but at the time of her death had grown to be a handsome young woman, and a young man named Frank, said to be of a highly respectable family of timore, and who, when the gipsies were en- camped near that city Leg sige, Manmer i enamored with the a ly (Esmondela), determined to cast his fortunes with her, and who, up to the time of bis death, had been lead- ing the roaming life of a gipsy. ‘The statement is given by a Christoph Polombo, who, himself, was an outsider traveling with the gipsies, and being terror-stricken at the commit m of the crime, tied to Mount Pleasant and made known the tacts to Justice Martin, of that place. Po- lombo says the cause of the crime was jealousy of the chief of the gipsies for the girl inst the attentions of the young man Frank. ‘he New York Sun, in its statement of the affair, sy: *-Polombo’s statement finds many believers, bat there are some who profess to see inconsisten- cies im the narrative that leave its trath open to question. Investigation nnd ve the truth of the story, but it is not probable that it will ever reveal the mystery of Esmondela’s birth.
