Besides the new attraction the sensation of last week, the Jardin Mabille and can-can, will be continued through this week. eee Tue Fisnine Sxason on Tus Poromac.— The tishing season on the Potomac by the large seines ceases, according to law, on the 10th of May, atter which the small streams that pat into the Potomac are only fished. There have been great failures heretotore, but we fear this will prove more disastrous than previous fail- ures. A month agoit gave promise of being the best for many a year. The cause has been twofold. The spring has been backward, and next the high, cold winds and low temperatare have kept the fish from runing in large num- bers. The quahty caught has been excellent. Indeed, we don’t think we have ever had larger and fatter herring and shad in our market. Scarcely bas eo boisterous a month of April been known by our fishermen. We hope that they may have found some compensation in the fact that the prices of fish have ranged tolera- bly high this season; certainly from thirty to forty per cent. higher than last year. RAILROAD ACCIDENT.— The express train going south,which leaves Alexandria at 8 p. m., Was thrown from the track about forty miles north of Lynchburg, this inorning, & the breaking of an axle under a sleeping car. The express, baggage car, coach and sleeper were th down anembankment. The express and baggage cars were badly broken, but the couches were not much damaged. Two pasen- ers—one from Bultimore—were slightly in- ured. Conductor Kudd, Baggage Master Keyes, and Sleeping-car Conductor Carlisie were injured severeiy, but it is thought not seriously.
