ARRIVAL OF THE NASSAU BOAT CLUB, OF NEW YO! The Nassau boat club, of New York, arrived ere this morning and proceeded to the Union hotel, Georgetown, where they will be the greet of the Potomac boat club, of that city. hey come to par te in the boat race to take place on Thursday afterncon next on the Potomac. The contestants will be the Analos- tans, of this cliy, and th ‘assaa club. The course has not yet been decided upon, but will probably be the same as that used in the last race of the Analostans with the Chesapeakes of Xorfolk. The Nassau crew are a fine-looking set of men, amd appear to re an abundance of muscle. Their trainer, Englehart, is with them, and will at once put them over the eourse. ‘The president of the club, Mr. Bab- cock, accompanies the crew. The crew con- mists of the following:—Jobnson. stroke; Mont- gomery and Walker, in the waist, (their i- tions bave not yet been assigned;) Brown, bow. ‘The boat is of handsome build, and was used in the late amateur regatta at Saratoga. The Analostans have been in training for fome time, and will, without doubt, give the JNassaus a handsome rub in the contest. The Analostan crew are: Gurley, stroke; Prescott and Upperman in the waist, and Brown, bow. ‘The average weight of the N: one hundred and fifty-six or eigh alostans something less. Considerable interest is manifested in the coming race,as the Nas- #aus are well known to be a club of good record, aud the laurels of the Washington boys are rized too highly for an easy surrender. Qur- ry as stroke is a favorite here, while Prescott and Upperman are hearty pullers. Brown is a eapital bow car. he four-oared race will be preceded by the single-seull race between Clarke, of the Ans- Jostans, and Truax, of the Potomac. This race bas also caused considerable excitement and speculation, and will be in itself very interest- urse will probably be different from he four-gared race. ——-s Tas Mrtrtary Excrrsion rrom Ricn- Major Fisher gud the gflicers of the t battalion of District troops, (colored,) are Toaking great preparations for the entertain. ment of the first battalion of the militia of the state of Virginia, which will arrive here on the evening of October éth, and have already ar- g of Monday, October | d will be met by the District battalion and escorted to the Armory building, where they will be entertained.
