A MissionaRY Priest Drowyep. — The body of a drowned man was found in the East- ern Branch, at the foot of 3d street southeast, and recovered yesterday, and word was sent to the Sth precinct station-house and the coroner notified. The remains were subsequently rec mized as those of Anthony Grimm, a Frenc (Catholic) , and formerly a ‘missionary among the Indians. He came to this city about months ago, and has been staying at the residence of the priests of St. Joseph's church until recently, when he went to Providence Hospital. McVeigh, has instituted suits in the corpo- ration court of Alexandria for the recovery of the property owned by the Messrs. McVeigh in this city, but confiscated and sold during the war. Datu er OLp Citizens oF MARYLAND.— On Friday last Nathaniel M. Soper, es.j., died suddenly of appoplexy in Nottingham district. Mr. Soper was an old and much respected citi- izen, well known throughout the lower part of the county. Charles S. Middleton, esq., breathed his last on Saturday night at his residence in Spald- ing’s district. At the first election under the constitution of 1850, Mr. Middleton was elected sheriff of this county, which office he filled throughout the term with much ability and to the entire satisfaction of hisjcenstituents.
