The Cold We. Storm. The extreme cold weather of the early part of the week has been followed by a snow storm, the duration and severity of which is somewhat unusual for this latitade during Christmas week. The snow commenced falling yesterday morning on the frozen ete ee) continued through the night with hail and sleet, and was still falling at noon to-dsy. The storm inter- feres considerably with business, and causes a total suspension of work in many Instances. The street cars have carried fall loads all days, an’ although the borse power has been double by two extra animals to each car, locomotion of this kind is difficult, as the snow falls her and the Saow Coowes if he was satisfied. Of course all navigation is ont of the question, and it looks as if this would con- tinue to be the case for some time to come. ‘The early trains on the Baltimore and Ohio and Baltimore and Potomac roads were bohind time in arriving this morning, owing to drifts in some of the cuts, but all are now arriving on tme.
