ESTIMATES YOR THE ARMY AND Navy.— The War department has transmitted to the House appropriation committee the estimates for the fiscal oat ending June30, 1574. The amount of estimates is $30,009,000, which is consider- ably less than the estimate for the current year. This is for the supportof the army proper, and does not include the estimates for fortitications oz for the military academy at West Point. This oil is not seldom contaminated with a sharp substance which acts like cantharides.
