The mystery was sub- sequently explained by a statement that the opie! who carried off the child were agents of rs. Viele, the mother of the child, who re- turned trom Europe for that purpose. Mrs. Viele accompanied the kidnapping party to the residence of General Viele, and, securing her child, refused to give it up except with her life. She and her daughter left on Saturday for Europe.
