Journal, August 2ith.} ‘Thomas Moore, aged 52, an old Crimean so!- dier, Francis Bradford, 19, and James Tooth, $2, the former of whom was a private in the Third Buds, and the latter a marine, were executed yesterday morning at 9:20 o'clock, within the ‘walis of the county prison at Maidstone. The ceremony of pinioning the culprits took place by Caleraft and his assistant ‘Moore was the first who was taken to the scaf- foid, and then Bradford, and while preparations were going op, the other cuiprit, Tooth, re- mained in the cell with the Rev. Mr. Allen. All the prisoners exhibited extraordinary firmness indeed, Tooth was apparently unconcerned, an no one could bave imagined from his demeanor ¢ awful position im which he stood. When all was ready, he also was taxen to the scaffold, and rope Was at once placed around his neck, ithe drop fell almost immediately.
