ERCH OF THE GERMAN MINISTER. The Karon, in responding, said that he saw before him intertwined the flags of America and Germany in a more perfect union than ever before. There was a time when this was not expected, but since the year 1863 a radical change bas taken place, the people of the Uni- ted States now being ready to recognize the power of united Germany. The game of dip- pmacy had been played so well by the repre- sentative men that a good feeling had sprung up between the people of the two nations. In former years many Germans had been com- pelled, from force of circumstances, w take up their abode in this country; but now most of them came from choice, and were well satistied With the result. In conclusion, he said then let us, under the azure of an American firmament, fondly recollecting our beloved fatherland, give three hearty cheers-for this noble land, the nur- sory of progressive ideas andeternal liberty, and for all German homes on this as well as the other side of the Atlantic. Phe Baron was frequently applauded during his speech. THE FESTIVITIES BEGUN.
