A LALOR REFORMER OPFOSED TO BOTH GRANT AND GREELEY. At a labor meeting in Charlestown, Massa- chusetts, last evening E. M. That, as neither Grant nor Greeley was the representa tive of a party of that idea, labor reformers could go for neither. If a movement was not inaugurated somewhere, also, to place a candi- date upon a platform guaranteeing the enact- ment and execution of short-time laws, conver- tibility of the currency, direct progressive taxa- tion, and minority representation, it remained in the powerot the labor reformers to inaugurate and a number of delegates from this State left | tor Baltimore this morning. Bayne & Co., in the circuit court of the United States sitting in equity, heretofore reported, Judge Giles yesterday gave the decision of the court, Judge Bond ‘concurring. The court decided that the United States are creditors of L. P. Bayne & Co. to the amount of $100,000, and to that extent entitled to a priority over the private and preterred creditors in the distribution of the funds in the hands of the trustees under the deed of trust, which priority, it isstated, will absorb the entire fund, the assests not amount- ing to over $60,000. The grounds of the liabil- ity of Bayne & Co. as debtors to the United Siates as stated by the court are: First, that the transfer of $200,050 on the ®th of April, 1866, by Lieut. Col. Paulding, paymaster U.S. /A., feom the First National Bank of Washington city to the Merchants’ National Bank of the same city was illegal, being without the sanction of t!
