The House committee on the District of Co- lumbia met this morning for the purpose of conference upon the report on the recent inves- tigation mto the charges against the District government and Beard of Public Works, and the entire session was parsed in discussion.’ The committee will meet again to-morrow for the same purpese, and the points of the report then be determined upon. A delegation of ‘gaits was present this morning, and asked a@ bearing on the bill which ra, passed the Senate detining the powers of the Board of Meaiti. The delegation was informed that a hearing would be given at some future mee! ing. Ene Senate committee on the District of Co- te et this Seong and agreed to report favoral.ly on the house bill granting permission to the Balumore and Potomac railroad com- pany to locate the passenger depot at the corner of ¢th and B streets, without amendment. The bill which recently passed the house fixing the salary of members of the Board of Health at 2,000 per annum was agreed to, and will be re- ed without amendment. The bill intro- iced by Mr. Sumner, allowing the Georgetown Gas Company to extend its works to cover all the territory within the limits of the District of Columbia lying on the west- erm side of Keck creek, was apwroved, and a favorable report will be made to the Senate. Also, upon the bill introduced by Mr. Patter- son amending the act incorporating the Colum- bian College. It repeals that portion of the act ef incorporation limiting the annual income of the college at 225,000, and approves the late act Of the legislative assembly for the relief of that college. The bill introduced by Mr. Lewis tor the relief of Memorial parish of the P. E. church, in this Distriet, was agreed upon, with an amendment striking out th: section. Ganit—ratd to be a wild anima! jnst from the prairies—for the purpose of having his shoes re- moved. ‘The horse was caught, and was being led ont of the gate when he slipped the bridle from ltis head to his neck, and suddenly wheel- ing, kicked the boy, who held on to the reins, knocking him down and shattering his lett thigh. Dr. MeCormick reudered the necessary surgi- cal assistance. Tue Fisnery.—The fishery of 1872 is draw- ing to aclose. It has not been as successful to the seine haulers and gillers as was anticipated, but still, few, if any, engaged in those opera- tions have iast money. The catch of ahad up to this time exceeds that of the same period year, buy there has been a great falling off in the number of herring caught. Though the fish are disappearing at the lower iandings, they don’t seem to be —— at those nearer the city. Operations have already ceased, or, in fishing parlance, the fishermen have “ ent out” at Windmt]! Point, Gums, Tumps, Fowlke’s, Arkendale, and Deep Hole, and other shore: will rapidly follow.
