SALES oF WHEAT AND Conn.—This morning, 400 bushels of strictly choice Maryland wheat sold for $2.01, which is the highest price paid this season. Another sale of 275 bushels was ade at $1.95. IxcexpiaRy Fine—The alarm of fire be- tween one and two o’clock, Inst night, was caused by the burning of the wheelwright and coach making shop, and its contents, of Mr. Henry Miteten, on Dake street between lumbas and Alired. A framed house, which the insurance policy had expired ten days ago, occupied by and belon colored man named Thomas Harper, fire and was damaged to the extentor about #137, Mr. Mittleton bada policy, which expired at 12 o'clock to-day, in the Associated Firemen’s Company, of Baltimore. for $1,000-2500 upon the house, $490 on the finished and unfinished work and material, and $190 upon the mac ery and tools—but says he can not restore w he hus lest for $2,000. ‘The fire originated the trimming room. on the second floor, and was undoubtedly the work of an incentiary, and had been preceded by two unsuccessful at. tempts. ACCIDENT TO Mas. Nevr.—A telegram in yesterday’s Gazette stated that Maj. W. D. Nutt’s horse had fallen upon him near Centres ville and broken bis leg. The particulars of the accident are as follows: The Major was on horseback, and was riding with a loose rein slowly down the hillon the turnpike just this side of Centreville, when his horse stumbled and fell upon him, and broke both bones of his leg, about midway between his knee andankle. The Major was taken to Manassas, seven miles off, and brought to this city on the Lynchburg train last night. Upon his arrival he was conveyed to the Mansion Honse where Dr. Lewis set the broken limb and he is now improving.
