The river is now clear of ice, and the different lines of steamers are again in operation. MR. Frayx OFFvtt, a ladder last week, is still lying in < cal condition. It is thought that he was injured internally by his fall, and at present his ssmp- toms are such that it is feared he cannot re- cover. ALEXANDRIA. Fata Accipent.—Capt. Overton Taylor, a Potomac River Pilot, who resided on Prince street, just below Fairfax, was out ducking this morning, in company with Capt. Albert Fair. When near Goose F.gg Island, opposite the city, about 9 o'clock, he was drawing his gun from under the seat ofthe skiff, when the hammer caught exploding the ebarge, which entered the calt and knee of his left leg inflicting a ghastly wound from the effects of which he died about 120’clock. As soon as he was wounded hiscom- panion brought him back to the city and he was taken home ‘but never railied from the shock. He was about 35 years old and leaves a wife but no children.
