After our telegraphic report of the Wharton trial closed yesterday the examination of Dr. P. . Williams was continued. He testified that on the evening of the 4th of July he had a conversation with Mrs. Wharton in Teference to poison having been found in General Ketchum’s stomach, and stated to her that Mr. Vau Ness had taken the same poison, or it had been found in the punch; he then told Mrs. W. that he deemed it his duty to commani- cate this fect to her at the earliest possible mo- ment, inorder that she and her daughter might protect themselves against a similar accident; tor, to be frank, he suspected one of her ser- vants as having admini-tered the poison; Mrs. W. the id that witness must be mistaken as having discovered poison—for it ssibie that he (General K.) could have son; that wa —— ea conveyed by ie the stomach andthe punch analyzed, h the same poison was found; he re- peated there can be no doubt as to the fact of the poisoning, and said that the only involved in doubt was who was th who had administered the poison; that, he said, will be the subject of future investigation, but im the meantime he desired both her and her daughter to be on their guard; Mrs. W. replied that she was satisfied that her servant had had nothing to do with it; she said the servant had lived with her five OF Six years, and she had the most implicit confidence in her, and knew that she could not have done it; wit- ness then replied that ke would be exceedingly glad if she could show not only that Susan had not de that nobody else in the house had dor rit was perfectly clear that some- body in her b red the powon; after seme further conversation of no importanee Mrs. W Dr. MeSherry rose to leave the house, witness passed around his library table | oor, and then Mrs. W. remarked that she b one thing to say in reference to this subject, and that was that if anything Was found in the stomach of Gen.
