A Bradshaw Council in the Twenty: Said Aaron to Moses, “Let's cut off our noses.” Raid Moses to Aaron, *'Tis the fashion to wear — A private meeting of 17 republicans was held on Monday night at the residence of Dr. L. C. Loomis, on Pennsylvania avenne, between 6th and 7th streets east, for the purpose shown in the following account of the proceedings. Dr. L, C. Loomis was at the door, for the purpose of keeping out interlopers and black cats, but did pot futercept our thin-edged reporter. There were present Dr. L. C. Loomis, Moses Bradshaw, and his brother Aaron, W. T. Davis, F.D. Gaines, Charlies White, Martin Meore, Thomas Perry, Miles Sweeney, E. P. Malloy, ‘W.E. Marshall, W. Brazel, E. B. Hughes, Jno. Bryan, sr., and three others. Dr. L. C. Loomis was called to the chair, and Aaron Bradshaw acted as secretary. Mr. Moses Bradshaw moved that they consider ways and means TO REMOVE MR. 8. W. HERBERT frem the chair of president of the 2ist district elnb, and place Mr. W. T. Davis in the chair. Mr. Aaron Bradshaw seconded the motion, as Herbert was not favorable to nominating his (Aaron’s) brother Mose aa candidate for dele- gate to the Legislative Assembly. The motion ‘was adopted. Mr. Aaron Bradshaw moved that a committee of seven be appointed, with his brother Mose as chairman, to wait on Mr. Herbert and request him to vacate the chairof the club. Two wide passages will run from end to end of the building, giving four rows of stalls. Lateral passages will divide the stalls into pairs, so that ach one will have a sales counter on two sides. ‘This arrangement will also give free ingress and egress to purchasers, even at times when the crowd is greatest. It will have acellar through- out,with the southern end of it finished for a basement restaurant. A portion of the cellar Will be fitted up with ice-boxes, so that every man occupying a stall will have # place to keep such articles as require it in a colder atmos- phere than that of the market itself. The main T of the market-house is slanting, so as to accommodate itself to the grade of 7th street. The Projecting center part of main front is di- vided off in two stories, so as to give an office for market-master in the upper , from which he can oversee the operations of ‘the market. ‘The cellar is seven feet nine inches high in the clear, and its floor is parallel to the main floor of ‘the market-house. The main floor is constructed of rolled-iron beams; between them brick arches are 3 the haunches of which are concreted and leveled. A brick pavement laid solid in cement finishes the floor. The greatest height of the walls of the building, from level of the basement floor to the lower face of iron heel-blocks of roof, is 36 feet. The inside of the walls is rough-casted. The market Froper has a high wainscoting of yellow pine. The foundation walls are started Upon concrete, and consist of quarried stone, laid in cement mortar. The walls of the build- ing above ground are built hollow, with inter- mediate sit-space, constructed of hard-burned bricks; have a base of cutstone for the promi- nent parts, and are faced, for front and two ides, with red bricks, laid with pressed-brick joints; the rear elevation has struck joints and Ro cutstone work. The frame of the roof is con- structed mainly of Nrought-iren, but a dressed wooden sheathing will be laid upon light wooden purlines and a ventilating skylight of hammered ; and iron frame will run the ridge of e building.
