Mr. George Waters rectived a letter th’< morning from Shepherdst»wn, stating that the rairs there yesterday mo-ning were very heas ;. It is thought by business men here that most of the damage to the canal will be this side of Har- r’s Ferry, from the fact that the Shenandoah is the most swollen by the rains, Mr. S. H. Sherwood reveived a dispatch, dated this morning, from Sancy Hook stating that the water was very high—about five feet over the tow path, but the exienc of dama ze could not ba ascertained until the water falls.
