Emmet betore ie nt upon the Poon stage, and Mr. mmet appeared in his original character of the German Emigrant. Both the actor and the play proved sucei Mr. Emmet’s style is much ke Jeflerson’s, being quiet, unobtrusive, and natural; displaying a keen appreciation of bumor, combined with it expression, and, in the scenes which call for it, tender pathos. In the concert scene—where he sings several songs, performs some wonderful dances, “and executes @ marvelous sole on the toy harmonicon—he fairly brought down the house, and created shouts of laughter and applause. The play is a one for its purpose, and was well played y the stock company throughout. As ior the mounting, it was hly creditable to Mr. aiding and bis se artist and machinist, scene being especially beautiful, and oe from the audience a well deserved meed of applause.
