The examinations in these schools differ from those in the white schools in that the teachers themselves conduct the entire examination, the Superintendent oc- casionally asking questions. The Grammar Sehool, under the tuition of Mrs. M. B. Briggs, consisting of forty pupils, who were all present but one, passe creditable examination. In consi a ve ideration of the opportunities these pupils have had for giv- atifying to hear their ready answers to’ difficult questions.
