Archbishop Foss, of the Churh, died recently in Switzerland. —— The Boston correspondence of the New York Herald of the 29th instant has the following:—A most sorrowful ocet in Howard street, in this city, morning, produced b: love, deep remorse and bitter revenge. The girl, Mary E. Jones, is petite in stature, with flashing black eyes, long and waving hair, and a smile or a blush a gives pleasant expression to her pretty face. Her lover was one “Jake” Hickman, a well-known attackeot the Howard Athenwum. For a long time they have loved each other: but, for some reason or another, jnst as these things will sometime happen, Hickman has allowed his affection to cool down, and has not of late been so attentive to Mary as she demanded and expected. This fairly broke her heart. So last evening she called several times at his hotel, the Florence House, No. 29 Howard strect, to see her lover, but failed to do so. She was repeated- ly informed that he was not in—that he was not ever in the eity. But this she belleved not, and even as late as one o’clock last night she went again to the hotel, and not being able to gain admission threw herself down on the steps and there remainded till the break of day. When the inmates of the house were astir this morning she managed, through one of her own sex, to gain admission, when she rashed frantically to her lover's room. It was closely locked. No answer came to her loud and oft repeated demands for admission. Then she became frantic, paced the long hallway to and fro like a maniac, begging only to see her lover for one second—one second was all she desired, for with the weapon in her hand this wasenough for her purpose. She simply wanted his life and Was using every means in her power to gof it, but she was foiled and failed. Then, after & minute's calmucss and cool reflection, she deliberately entered the bath room, an apartment adjoining t* e room ot her lover, and taking the pistol, the first shot of which she designedtor her lover, she placed it at her lett | breast and fired, the bali entering her chest | just below the left nipple. The report aroused the inmates of the house, and when they reached her she was lying on the floor and blood was flowing from her breast in a dark and | tream. A carriage was at once secured, s aken to the City Hospital, where after. +n FULL PARTICULARS of the fatal duel between | Fourbon, near Madrid, have come to hand by mail. Have weak, and have but little appetite, and you at’ribate this to dyspepsia or liver-complaiut ? Now, reader, self-abnee, venereal diseases badly cured. and sexual excesses, are all capable of pro- ducing a weakness of the generative orgaus. The organs of generation, when in perfect health, make theman. Did you ever think that those bold, de- fiant, energetic, persevering, successful business men are always those whose generative organs are in perfgct health? You never hear such men com- plain of being melancholy, of nervousness, of palpi- tation of the heart. They are never afraid they cannot succeed in business; they don't become sad ous urecouraged, they are always politeand pleasant in the company of ladies, and look you and them right in the face—none of your downcast looks or any other meanness about them. I do not mean | those who keep the organs inflated by running toex- | cess. These will not only ruin their constitutions, but alse those they do business with or for, How many men, from badly cured diseases, from | the effects of self-abuse and excesses, have brought about that state of weakness in those organs that has reduced the general system so much as to induce al- most every other disease—idiocy, lunacy, paralysis, | +pinal affecti ns, suicide, and almost every other form of disease which humanity is heir to, and the real cause of the trouble scarcely ever suspected, and wave doctored for all but the right one. Diseases of these organs require the nse of a Diu- retic. HELMBOLD’S FLUID EXTRACT BUCHU isthe great Diuretic, and is @ certam cure for dis- eases of the Bladder, Kidneys, Gravel, Dropsy, Or- ganic Weakness, Female Complaints, General De- bility, and all diseases of the Urinary Organs, whether existing in Male or Female, from whatever cause originating, and no matter of how long stand- ing.
