Charles MeGowan offered a resolntion setting forth that at a meeting of the Irish Ke- publicans of the First and Second Wards held on the 16th instant, resolutions were passed cor demning the plan of forming a Central Execu- tive Committee in this city; that this meeti: denounces the action fot those so-called Irish Republicans as detrimental to the true interests of the Republican party, that we elect five dele- — to the Executive Committee of the Irish epublicans of this city, and that they be in- structed to use their endeavors to torm a perma- nent central organization, thereby benetiting the Republican party. Mr. McGowan addressed the Club in support Of the resolutions, denouncing Mr. St. Clair, Michael Daffy and J. D. O'Leary, who he said were well-known dissenters from the original Irish Republican Club, and were doing all in their power to disturb the harmony of its pro- ecedings. The resolutions alluded to were a fair sample of (St. Clair’s republicanism." The speaker cautioned Irishmen not to be led by any such political trickster, and hoped the resolu. tions just presented would be adopted without opposition. Fre resolutions were then adopted. A communication was read from P. H. Done- an, President of the Central Irish Kepublican ssoctation, requesting the appointment of five delegates to represent the Club in the Executive Committee. A debate arose as to the propriety of choosing the delegates at this time or waiting until the next meeting of the club, but finally it was de- cided to go into an election by ballot.
