The report states that du- Ting the yeur twenty-five meetings had been held, besides a grand conyention drawn up by Prof, Wilcox had to Congress; several interviews with the Committee on t istrict ot Colum- bia, and a number of petitions had been for- ‘warded to Congress. Mrs. Griffing thought that the labor move- ment was a great argument towards the en- franchisement of woman. On the number of the sex enfranchised weuid depend its power. The true rule of government was the consent of the governed, and to-day one-half of the governed in the United States had no voice in the Government. The best feature of en- conragement was that the public press to-day feared to touch the cardinal point of universal suffrage. Sne advocated universe! education; would have a school in the jail. [Applause Although she wes an advocate of the divinity cf manbood and womanhood, still she had found but few of the lately enfranchised col- ored race who would not beg or steal.
