The result was thathe sent them sdritt, and they sued for wages, or something of the sort, and the case went before a magistrate, where the Judge admits that his feelrngs got so much the better of Dim that he did use some retty harsh language in regard to the wite of tenant or employe. ‘he rabble” of the lace sided with bis tenants, and alter ascer- jing that he was unarmed way-laid him on his leaving the magistrate’s office, and Ob his stepping out in the dark he was struck viol y and treacherously on the head by some unknown, parties. The Jadge was at first staggered, but he -ays he instantly rallied and struce out with such effect as to knock down one of nis cowardly assailants, who, in falling, & ied snether down, and possibly others.
