Adjourned, ———— An InTERESTING CasE— Tie Ban'rypicy Court and Building Association:.—(Quite au interesting case is now pending im the Bankruptcy Cart of the District in which there is considerable interest felt, as the discussion will affect th» various building associations as to their future covernment. The question arises in the case ot J<ho C. Hatter, who on the 1th aay of March was adjudged a bankrapt, and Mr. irorge Mason was appointed assignee of estate iu April. On the 15th of March trustees under the deed of trust made to First Co-operative Building Associution ad ver. used the property for sale on the 2uth of April, which was enjoined by the assignes. Ths bankrupt had beeu over a year the owner of two shares of the stock of the assoct ty January and June, 186, he nx S200 at a premiom, giving a satisfactory decd ot trust to secure the repayment of the ad- Vences. and having ta.led to pay his du:s as above stated, the property was advertised for sale. The assignee now petitions the court for An imjunction to restrain the sale, and also for &n order to bring the accounts of the association with the bankrupt into the court for settlement, offering to discharge whatever balance may bo found due the association on fair settlement. He states that they have refused and negl-cted to furnish a statement of tneir accounts, or to come to any settlement, but, on the contrary, have read vertised the property for sale. and if such sale take place, the creditors of the bank- Tupt will be greatly prejudiced. O. Wilson, W. RK. Woodward, and E. Champlin, of the commit- tee appointed to conduct those interesting ex- ercises. It was expected that 45 pupils would have been present, but only about three- fourths of the number entered for the medal, male grammar of the 2d district not being Tepresented, and the 3d district schools having but three each. There were 200 words given out by a stranger, the pupils being required to write th the result will be announced ' hereafter.
