He held the Republican mechanics responsible for the existence of these compacts against negro mechanics in the various trades organizations, and said that they were foremost in ostracising negroes. The resolution was finally adopted, and Messrs. Day, Clark, Forrester and the presi- ding officer were designated as the committee to pon the President.
