A limited issue of these desirable bonds bas been made, and they can be obtained at the First National Bank. The cou- pon bonds are in denominations of $50, $100 and £500, bearing interes, payable semi-an- nually, of six per cent. in gold. Davidge, Mev- Tick and Bradley have institated suits for George F. Gulick and John W. Mead against Appleton P. Clark and Jeseph G. Car. roll. The declaration. of Mr. Galick sets forth that he is a citizen and was qualified to bold the office ot Alderman of Fifth Ward; that on the first Monday of Jui last he was a candidate for said office; that the election was held according to law; that saii . Clark was also a candidate: that at the said election more than half of the votes ited by Ted votes and received by the Commissioners were for petitioner; that oa the evening of the first Monday in June the Conmissioners proceed to count the votes ac- 7; ascertained that the petitioner Be "Watincts said returus were delivered to Mayor, &c. and a duplicate was made out and delivered to Frederick A. The declaration of Mr. Mead sets forth in the same terms that Bir. Carroll assumes to bs the Assessor tor the Fifth Ward, to his exclusion, he baving received a majority of the votes. ‘The Conservative candidates for Councilmen from the Fifth Ward bave not yet commenced suit, and they will probably await the result of these suits, as the identical questions are in- volved. es es PUGILISTIC ENTERTAIN MEST.—Un Saturday night last, Billy Edwards—the victor over Collyer in the fght on Core river on the 21th of last month—had a benefit at Canterbury, which was hardly filled—the crowd which otherwise would bave been present being dou%tless kept away by the storm. The audience was a mis- cellaneous one, including almost every style of person, from bootblack and newsboy to the prefessional man, and it was a very orderly one. The entertainment consisted of set-tos, interspersed with songs and negro sc-nes, Toe first eet-to was between two novices, who dis- pleyed isir sparring abilities, which was fol- lowed friendly contests bet ween two “xids,”’ avd “Shorty” ot Ppa Bay and “Dublin Tricks.” A beautiful bout took place bei wet Dooney Harrisand Terry Ryan, in which seme good science was shown, the former seeming to be the best boxer. He immediately reported his loss to Po- lice Headquarters, and the case was taken in band by Detectives Thompson and Miller, who ‘Were informed by Mr. W. that he suepecued a man going by the name of John Morgan, and they immediately set about to find bim, and succeeded im coming upon him in a house of ill-repate on C street. He denied all knowl- edge of the transaction or to having any money, buton being taken to Police Headquarters he was searched aad $110.55 were raised from his shoes, which he said was some tuat he found. He had a hearing before Justice Smith, who committed bim to jail tor court. Morgan is said to be a fugitive from York, Pa. The city refused to erect the stalls becau: of the expected early removal of the market- house, and the butchers were compelled to erect them at their own expense, or be closed out of the market, 5th. Perry, the relief fond for the Maryland ports baying received trom Mr. P. man $l0, and accounts of clothing have been forwarded to Ellicott’s city. Remitted to Wm. H. Gibbons, treasurer at Ellicott’s city, $12045 for special distribution among the sutferers in the valley of the Patapsco above and below Ellicott’s’ city.
