Sec. 13. And be it further enacted, That there shall be assesed and collected monthly, trom ery authorized distiller whose distillery bas an aceregate capacity for mashing and ferinent- ing, twenty bushels of grain or less, or sixty gallons ot or less, in — te Signs tacer seem Par aay excepted; and a tax of two dollars per rday ay tor every twenty bushels of grain or sixty gailons of molastes of said capacity in excess of twenty bushels of grain or sixty gallons ot molasses in twenty-four hours. But any distiller who shall suspend work, as provided by this act, shall a only two dollars per day during the time the work shall be so suspended in his dis. SAS 16. sane be it further enacted, That any person who shall manutacturr any still, boiler. or other vessel, to be used for the purpose of distilling, shail, before the same is removed from thr place of manotacture. notify in wri- Ung the assessor of the district in whieh such still, boiler, oF other vessel is to be used or set up, by whom it is to be used, its capacity, and the time when the same is to be removed from boiler, or other vessel shall be set up wituo: the permit in writing of the said assessor for that purpose; and any person who shall set up Such still, boiler, or other vessel, without a permit from the said assessor which such still, boiler, or otber vessel is intended to be used, or who sball fail to give such notice, shall pay either case the sum of five buddred dollars, and shall forfeit the distilling apparatus thus re- moved or set up in violation of law 15. The said book shallalways bs kept at the dis- tillery, and be always open to the inspection of any revenue officer, and, when filled up, shail be preserved by the distiller for a period not lees than two years thereafter, and whenever required shall be produced for the inspection of any revenue officer.
