A letter from Senator Doolittle appears in the In‘ciligencer this morning, in answer to forty-nine Conservative Republicans of the town of Danville, Pennsylvania, wao wrote to Mr. Doolittle, expressing a “sense of disap- Pomtment and regret that no better names had been offered by the Democratic party to lead the Conservative and patrione masses of the People to victory, and the Radical Republi- can party to deserving and merited aefeat. As gentleman and statesman Mr. Seymour holds our respect, but as 8 Peace Democrat we are indisposed to yote forhim” They say that if Mr. Doolittle, among others, had been placed at the head of the ticket, “all would have gone Well, and victory would have been ceriain,” ‘Westward : Epitor Evesino Stan:—Referring to the notice of the movements of General Frank P- Biair, and other notables, tending towards the Rocky Mountains to: the summer moaths, is but the evidence of the y fature-pil- grimages that will be made to the many soled places of summer resort that will be the fash- jon when = Ral @re done. The following extract from &pam- niet on New Mexico, by the Hon. ©. P. Clever, legate in Congress, points in glowing lan- guage tothe many localities that in the earl; tature will become the Meccas of thousands of our citizens : «T have said nothing of the Ao! springs and of the mineral springs of New Mexico Taese are found in almost Chant Ket bl the coun- . At Las Veras; near Valiente; a lemon near Fort McRae; near Fort Seiden; near the Miembres river, amd at many other oints. Their curative qualities have long Been known, and the 88 well as the rich, who may en to be infirm, flock to them with almost same faith that they will find relief, as those who “when the waters were troubled.” descended into the pool of Beth- saida. Once the railroad toucbes New Mex- eo, these springs, which i.r yolume aud medicinal qualities exceed any of those now so celebrated in the Atlantic Siates, or io Europe, will attract. thousands from all = ofthe civilized World to drink of their ealing waters. And, then, in room of having tourisis go from our to spend their money im sight-seeing they will visit Wonder at the magnificence of this Amer- iesn Switzerland; whilst the wealthy of other Inds, from beyond Joth seas, become tour- ists in our mountains, here to have their villas and their chateaux; here to breathe the pure air, and toenjoy the most sublime soenery to be found in the world. The Genii in the E.s- count 8nd they desire his opinion upon the situation ond “the prospects of a third party.”* Mr. Doolittle advises his anxious corres. Pondents to “‘stick:"argues against the forma. tion of a third party, and says that from the very nature of things there can be but two effective political parties. The Convention in New York met, he says, tor the purpose of organizing to overthrow the party in power, nd to restore the Union and the Constitution, and the rights of the States and of all the States under it. Mr. Doolittle candidly admits that the neminations made at New York were “not the very best that could have been made for that purpore.” The Demoeratic party proper, be says, was fully organized, with ranks well filled, but not in sufficient numbers to secure the victory. The War Democrats and the Uon- tern Tale could never have been more potent in their works of enchantment t apital and Labor will be, when giving to New Mexi- co, as the fruit of their union, a railroad to connect her with the commerce of the two oceans, and make her known to the wealthy nd cultivated throughout the world ” | Let but Congress insure the early completion of the Kansas Pacific Railway by timely assist- ance, and open the richest cultural valley of the West with ite Rundfed thoveana pepa- means lation, in full energy, awaiting but of transit to the outer to pour its accu- mulated riches into the nation’s lap, and invite capital and energy to develop its rich mines of god, silver and , Scarerly second te any on the continent. With health-giving springs of most beneficial qualities, and an atmosphere of purest breath, and a climate the most equa- ble and healthful, New Mexico promises to the leasure-seeker and the invalid comforts and Renente Tore real than anyother portions of the Rocky Mountains. New Mexico awaits servative Republicans, he says “hold the bal- ance of power. Asa matier of policy, had the first office been given toa chief of the one or of the other, it would have made our victory more easy, if not more certain. Everybody knows that the result of this contest is to depend upon the important question, whether ‘We shall be able to recruit those two corps in sufficient pumbers, and carry them to the hearty support of Mr. Seymour. If we can, victory és with us, If we cannot, victory is againet us.” in his judgment it is their duty to umitein bebalt of the Constitution, the rights of the States, the liberties of the people, d&c., and so on Mr. Seymour was, on the whole, pretty found on the goose, and sent troops to Gettys- burg quite expeditiously: and General Biair saved Missowri from secession, and while among the foremost of the War Republicans durmg the war, was among the first when it ‘was over to demand the gnion of the States under the Constitution. Therefore, says Mr. Doolittle, “Let us unite for a victory!” Altogether, Mr. Doolittle’s letter will hardly Sid the thirty-nine Conservative Republicans of Danville in getting out of the fog. pitas A abahes het AborteEp. amendment to the Constitn- tion of the United States, known as Article 1i. 1s Row & part of that instrument and the organ. ic law of the land.
