McRitchie, ‘which left here on the 24th with Admiral Smith on beard, returned on Thursday evening. The Ascutney stopped at the Norfolk Navy Yard, of which the Admiral made an official inspec- tion, and after going up the James river to Rich mend, preceeded from thence to Annapo- lis, when the Admiral visited the Naval school.
