It provides that any estate or interest. legal or equitable in rval | property, i the District of Columbia, belong- ing to ADY Woman at her marriage, or which may bave come to her during cow: rture by con- veyance, gift, devise, or inheritance, or by chase with her separate means or mouey shall, together with all rents and issues thereof, be and remain her separate property, and under ber control,and she may, in her own name, during coverture, make contracts for jaber and cultivating the same, and also lease the fame for any period not exceeding three years. Thle act shall not aivct the estate by court of any husband in the real pro; er ef bis wite after her decease, but during the life of such wife, or ny heir of her body, such estate shall’ not be taken by any process of law for the payment of his Grtis, or be conveyed or encumbered by hii unless she shall join therein with himin t manner prescribed by law, provided such wife shall have no-pewer fo convey or eacumber such real estate except by deed, in which her husband shall join. The personal property of the wife, together with the proceeds of her labor, shall also be deemed her separate prop- fo erty, and not subject to be take her husband. Any marred weman in said District whose husband deserts her, or from intemperance or other cause be- come incapacitated, or neglect te provide for his family, may, in her own name, make contracts for her own labor, and the labor of ber minot chisdren, and in ber own name sue for and col- lect her own and theirearnings. He took an evening paper, butit never reached his house until 8 o'clock at night. He thought it wonld be advisable to pubhsb the meetings in the STar also, and let Publications be made several days before the meeting. Mr. Gleason moved that the Club meet again on Monday evening next; adopted, Mr. Wilson hoped the notice of the meeting other evening paper, but it never reached his house until late at night, while the Star came about five o'clock in the afternoon, Mr. Wilson then addressed the Ulub, urging the members to exert themselves to have the yotersof the Ward attend the meetings. The first meetings of the Club were well attended, but when old Mr. Merrill came in he abused members of the Club and Reporters so much that several members became disgusted.
