A CoMPLAINT—To the Editor of the Star:—I beg yeu may feel inclined to call the attention ot the authority, to the extreme annoy- ance to which those entering and departing by ‘way of the Long Bridge are subjected by the una& comodating spirit of those in charge of the draw on the city sideof the river. No regard, apparently, is paid to the distance @ vessel wishing to pass the draw is from the bridge, nor of the Kind of vessel. It makes no differ- ence whether it be a wood-boat, propelled by poles, or a steam-tug; it itis only in sight, it is enough. The draw is opened, and thongh it may take twenty minutes before the vessel en- te the wilfulness or ignorance of on the part of those in charge. It is proper that the drawer should be opened in time to save the bridge from any danger of a collision, but there is no need or propriety in being fifteen to twenty minutes in advance of this time, as is now the case on all oceasions. The case is far different on the southern draw. Nothing ex- ceeds the courtesy and accomodation shown by those in charge: and one who passes constantly and to whom promptness at markets is of im- portance, desires to acknowledge with thanks, As no doubt will all others, the consideration for the want of trayellers. ‘Viator.
