Y.. jamiliarly known as the “Haymakers,” arrived here last evening, and were escorted to Wil- Isrds', And this afternoon they will play & match game with the National, of this city. ‘The visitors, with their friends, number about fifty, and are headed by Dr. Welch, the Pres- jdeot. The nine of the Nictene is composed ot Craver, catcber; McKeon, right field; Abrams, pitcher; Flinn, second base; Leavenworth, first base; Ward, short stop; M. King, center field; S. King, left field; Penfield, third base. Tne Naticnals will play the same nine with which they played the Mutuais, with the exception that Suudley takes the place of E. Smith, in the left field. The following are the pine: Parker, Wright, Norton, Berthrong, Seer Fledger, Hodges, Williams, and Smith. _ The Nationals met the strangers yesterday evening and conducted them to their quarters, and this forenoon took their guests to visit some of the public buildings. THE GAME THIS APTERNOON, About 2.20 the visiting club arrived on the grounds of the National, 16th and S streets, and about the same hour the public began to wend their way thitherward, taking the street cars and on foot. The crowd at the commencement of the game was not, however, as large as at the jormer maich between the Nationals and Mauruals. The Union Club are a remarkably fine look- ing set of young men, uniformed similarly to tne Nationals, excep ing that they wear red caps and white belts At2 45 game was called, John Scofield being the scorer of the Union, and John T. Shephard, and others, have recently pur- chased trom the trustees of Gonzaga Uollege the balf square of groand bordering on North Cspitol street, between H and I streets, for >5,000, and intend to erect this season 16 first class three story brick houses with marble trimmings, and to erect the same number of awellings next season. Gen. Williams has recently greatly improved the Douglas property at the corner of New Jereey avenue and I street. Mr. Entwisle being the contractor. A handsome addition has been erected with French roof, and the old residence is now baving the same style of roof being placed on it. Mr. Jacob Bool has completed this season a handsome four story press brick front store aud dwelling house on 7th street, between G and H, which, with the lot, cost 15,00. Mr. ©. P. Ee ee ‘ CHARCED WITH GaMBLING.—George Brad: ford, Jobn James and W. James, were ar- raigned before Justice Hazard on yesterday, cbarged “with keeping a gambling house and gaming table. and swindling Edward Liliy ont of $45, by meansof a tin box, out of which cards are drawn.” Upon calling the case. it turned out that Lilly, the plaintiff. entered the atoresaid alleged gambling house on Sunday last, and pawned his watch for $45, with which he obtained permission to open a little game of faro, he dealing the cards himself. The kame progressed with fluctuating results for some time: but finally Lilly was beaten out of bis money, and thereupon he entered com- piaine of swindling against the winners. ‘hese facts necessitated the discharge of the parties, because of the inability of the plaintif’ to testify without implicating himselt. — BUTLERS’ AssoclaTIon.—The regular week- ly meeting of the Butlers’ Association was Held at the hail of the association, on K, be- tween 12th and 13th streets, Jast evening. R. A. Buchanan, president, in the chair, and Thomas A. Nichols acting as secretary. The meeting was opened by prayer by Mr. Thomison, atier which a hymn was sang. This division bas. like others, made its weekly meet- ings attractive by am entertainment. and con- sequently the meetings are well attended.
