Boats would then be able to come through to our wharves from Georgetown withont delay, and with but litile ornoexpense. We may thus not only obtain @ portion of the coal trade, tut materially lessen the price to our citizens of wood, bnild- ing stone. grain and other produce, and many other articles wbich reach here by tne Chesa- peake an’ Ohio canal, and which we now have to cart trom Georgetown at very heavy expense.
