Father Wiget distributed the prizes and premiums to the successful pupils. % EAL UN ee SANITARY.—The sanitary police served twelve written and forty-two verbal notices for the abatement of nuisances yesterday, and ordered tha removal of six dead dogs. The fatality among horses and cattle has ceased, but the seasou fatal to.the canines is rapily ap- proaching. The work of whitewashing houses and cleansing the premises of the Seventh Ward, under direction of Mr. Whitemore, can- itary officer for that ward, is. naw complete; 574 families were served with lime, requiring sixty-two barrels.’ The ward is thought to be ina good condition as regards the sanitary work, Lieut.
