The gratification of curiosity might retard and even frustrate their plans. —_——s- A DANGEROCS ACCIDENT.—This morning, ‘while asmall boy, a son of Mr. Gibson, was riding on Pennayivanta Avenué, near 6th street, on a all powy,a lager beer wagon. driven by = German, was near running over him before the driver saw him. The driver sud- denly pulled ap his horses, and the wagon tongue struck the rider on the forehead, knock- sng him from the saddle, and inflicting an vezly wound. The bystanders were sure that the little fellow was killed. Detective Miller immediately picked him up and took him to Callan’s drug store, corner of 6th street, where i owas ascertained that the wound, though Te, is not dangerous, and the safferer was taken to his home by his friends. The accused is a married man, and occupies the house with his wife and seryant girl The girl is the com- plainant, and she testified to her own Prosti- tution with the man from whom the house is rented, at the direction of Mrs. Myers, and also that Mrs. Myers was guilty of prostitu- tion. The husband stood by and listened to the statement with remarkable complacency, but Mrs. Myers was not so quiet, and gave vent to her feelings by asserting her ability to prove & reputation for virtue. Justice Mor- sell fined the secused $20 for selling liquor without license, and held nim to bail for court for keeping a bawdy house. Stringfellow, ‘which has been before the Courts Dis- trict for pearly. fifteen yeats, it having been originally brought against the late,Ann Der- mott. Jones erected the building on the corner of Lousiana avenue and 7th street for Miss Dermott. and subsequently it became necessa- ry to make expensive repairs to strengthen the work. This tt was alleged by the plaintiff was noton account of the workmanship, but be- cause the defense insisted on altering the pian of the building after it had been commenced, notwithstanding the protest of thearchitectand otbers. Mr. Jones obtainéd a verdict in his favor some years since, but by technicalities and appeals the case has been prolonged.
