H. Dameron had been shot by stepfather, L. D. Hood. She is stated tohave been under the “protection” of Da- meron, who had separated from his wife. The parties lived in adjoining houses, and the colored girl insisted on taking water out of Mr. Hood's cistern, wnich enraged that gen- Ueman vot a little, and he ordered her to leave the yard. eron came out at the time, pulled a pistol from his pocket and threatened to shoot Hood, but did not earry his threat into execution. When he left the yard Hood nailed some boards over the cistern, and yesterday morning Dameron procured a natchet and wentto knock them off.
