ANOTHER HOYRIBLE INDIAN Massacerr.— A letter just r ved from Fort Rice, Dakota, February 11, contains the following :-—Our Jatest reports from Fort Buford, if true, are horrible. Three Indians, belonging to the Loaf Sioux, came im and reported that Fort Buford, at the mouth of the Yellow Stone river, was attacked on the sthof January by hostile Indians, who were repulsed by the lit- Ue garrison. On the 15th, after being reim- forced, the Indians made a sudden rush on the weakest point, succeeded in getting into the fort, and butchered every man. woman and child, not one being left to tell the tale. The fort was under the command of Colcnel Rankin, and company C, 3ist United States infantry, was the only company garrisoning the fort. The report is current that these hos- ule Indians bave made a declaration that they intend to drive the Unitsd States troops from the Upper Missouri, and t they have com- mencea with Fort Kearney and Fort Butord. ‘Taking into consideration the small number of troops at each post, it would be an easy matter \o capture and massacre = THE VIRGINIA INMIGRATION SoclETY.—We are glad to see the evidence of usefuiness which this society begins to show.
