A most determined attempt was made at a late hour Wednesday night, to mar- der Mr. Albert Db. Richardson, formerly a war correspondent of the N. Mr. Richardson having hired a room at McFarlaud’s bonse, some five or six weeks ago. Mrs. McFarland, who is an actress, at present in the cast at the Winter Garden, seems to have been the remote cause of the a:- tempted murder. It is alleged that McFarland became jealous of Mr. Richardson's attenuoas to his wite and bad remonstrated wit Between | and 12 o'clock la Richardson was walking do with Mrs. McFarland, the husband came up behind them and drawing a tour-barrelled pistol from bis pocket fired three shots at Mr. ichardson. One shot only took effect, the bail striking bim in the bip and ledging im the groin. Officer Culbane, of the 15th Precinct, who was peur by at the time, seized McFar- land snd disxrmed him, and with the assistance of officer Serry arrested him. All the parties were then taken to the l5th Preciact Station House, and McFariand was locked up for the night. Richardson was conveyed to Bouse No. 72 Amity street, where be was attended by & physician, who extracted the bullet. He was subsequently taken to the residence of Mr. Samuei Sinclair, in Washington Place. The prisoner was brought before Justice Led- with at the Jefferson Market Police Court this morning.
