At 8 o'clock the exercises of the evening were commenced, and sn eloquent and impressive prayer offered by the Rev. G. W. Samson, D. D., president of the college. After music, Dr. J. O. Riley, dean of the faculty, in a short address, announced that Dr. Samson would present the diplomas to the gradgua ing class; and the following gentlemen were presented with their parch- ments :—Francis A. Ashford, Virginia; | oseph Eck, Illinois: George ©. Samson, District of Columbia; Beverhont Thompson, Virginia Before presenting the diplomas, Dr. Samson delivered a very eioquent and instructive ad- dress to the graduating class. Dr. John Ordo- bakx, professor of physiology, pathology, and medical jurisprudence, was introduced, and delivered an sddress to the graduates. The department own the building which they nse for their purposes. It was presented to them by W. W Corcoran, Esq.. and is situated on H street, between 13th and Lith, opposite the New York Avenue Presbyterian Charch. dali THe PRize Kinc.—The statements that ar- rangements for a prize fight had been con- cluded between Sam Qollver and Barney Aaren, two well-known prize-ring celebrities, were premature. Collyer arrived in New Yorks on Monday, and up to the time of his srrival had not determined whether to accept the challenge of Aaron or that of Kelly. Ad- vices received in this city yesterday show that Sam bas decided to accommodate Aaron first, and bas a netocen to meet him at the of- fice of the New York Clipper to-day at twelve o'clock, for the purpose of signing articles and Spee forfeit money. A. H Marks, Esq., were stolen from nis stable at the Navy Yard. The fact was reported at the po- lice headquarters.apd the case was assigned Detectives Coomes & Miller. who went to work and traced the mares to Philadelphia, where Detective Coomes, with the sid of Sergeant Crouse and officer DeHaven, succeeded in re- covering the mares and capturing Wm. King and Wm.H Anderson. The Prisoners were brought to Washtegton in irows, as the Detec- tives was fearful that hing would attempt to escape. He, on & former occasion, was taken trom Philadelphia to Baltimore and lodged in prison. He escaped from prison and returned to Philadelphia is the same train with the offi- cers who took bim to Baltimore. The horses were delivered to the rightfal owner. These have been reported to the city authorities, and will be repaired as speedily as possible. CHARGE OF Grayp LaRcexy —Yesterday Wiilram A. Butler was arrested by officer Parker of the Fourth Ward, upon a charge of grand larceny. The charge was made by Cnaries Bowles, and crew out of the fact that a horse that Mr. Bowles alleges was stolen trom bim was foundin Butler's possession. Butler exhibsted a receipt for the purchase of tee horse. Mr. Bowles was about taxing measures for the recovery ot his property. and soon after learned that Butler bad sold the horse. Mr. Bowles then bad tum arrested for Jareeny. James Henry. indicted for the larceny of a quarter of & cord of wood, was convicted and sentenced to five days in jail. Browne for defense. Michael Tait, indicted tor larceny, was found not guilty, Kean for defense. Solomop Herman was convicted of larceny of clothing from John Kelly, valued at $135 The ca-e of Melville Kurtz, indicted for the larceny of clothing from J. H. Seville, was commenced, but not concluded. pa Ne 2 i tte ae Ivpia-Rupper Suir Deciev—Injunctions Granted.—Y¥ esterday Judge Olin, in the Equity Court, granted injunctions in the cases of Goodyear and others and Bacon against Hille and Daily, restraining the defendants from in- fringing the patents of the plaintiffs. The plaintiffs are the patentees of the vuleanite or bard rubber, very extensively used now in dentistry, and the effect of this injunction will prevent the defenda rom using this sabe stance in their Sus: iS unless they obtain licenses from the patentees.
