The programme announced threaservices, regular morning tervice at 11 o'clock, Sunday Sckool exercises at 3 o’clock in the afternoon, and evening services at7 o'clock im the eve- Bip, ‘Tee morning services was opened by the simple form pecohar to the Methodist the large congregation uniting with olemnity in the opening hymas and prayers, and listening with discreet attention to the reading of the holy word. The sermon was preached by Rev. John Mc- Clintock, DP D., of New York, who had for his theme, “The openings for the progr-ss of Chris- tanity and the obstacles in the way.” Tbe reverend doctor was powerfal aud convincing tn bis pleadings for the Church ot Carist, show- ang that by it the world is to be Christianized and civilized. After the sermon a collection was taken up Ouring the singing of a beautifal hymn by the Sabbath School, aud then the large congrega- tion was dismissed. P. Blackman. After singing by the school and the reading of the secretary's report by Mr. Tucker Williams, the secretary of the society, Rey. J. H. At its Morning service yesterday a interesting service took place in thé installation of six mew teachers, who bad served three months On prebation, and a renewal of their obliga- tions by nearly all the old teachers. The fa. stallation services were very impressive and solemn, and were conducted by Rev. Mr. Vin- cent. The exercises of the day were intended te be concluded by & platform meeting, but theex- tremely inclement weather prevented the ex- ecution of this part of the programme, and the regular devotional exercises were substituted. ‘The total collections for the year will amount te nearly $200, &@nd would undoubtedly have been larger had the weather been more favor- able during these meetings. ——_e—_—_.
