The accounts of the Iate hurricane at St Thomas, show it tohave been one of unex- ampled severity. The steamship company new wharf was completely destroyed by a barge being drivea through it. The damage to this alone will be $10,000. The hurricane at Turk’s Isiand was Carocas Islands and a t ‘ze number of wreck. ing schooners were lost with all on board. The number of lives lost at the Carocas was esti- mated at 50. At Nassau earnest efforts had been made to relieve the starving sufferers at Turk’s Island. They are sending ioads of produce and food. United States Consul Cresson has forwarded an appeal to the New York and other mercan- tile associations in the United States for aid for the destitute.
