Painter, of Fairfax county, Virginia appexred before a New York justice, to mike complaint acusmst one J. W. Fisher. during tne war a bounty and claim agent at Washington, but now resident in New York Mr. Painter aileges that Fisher obtained from him at various times money, im all amounting to $1,495.52 that Fisber obtained this amount by represe it ing that be was the partner of Lucier Fro -n of New York, under the name of J. W. Fisher & Co., bounty And claim agents, and that the firm had offices both im New York and in Washington: that Fisher furtner represeoted the firm to be good and res) sible tor any amount deposited with them. The complainant alleges that believing these representatioas he Geposited with Fisher the above sum of money. Afterwards, however, he drew from him all Save S682. Mr. Pater alleges that he subse- quently diseoyered that Fisher’s. representa- tons were all of them false; that he was no partner of Lucien Brown, and that he was neither responsible nor solvent. And before he could prefer a charge against him, he alleged that Fisher fled to New York; that he followed him there to bring the above charges against i bim. Fisher was arrested on 4 warrant. and is now confined to await a requisition from the authorities at Washington.
