Kob- bins, the Kegister of Wills for this District. ‘The pretext alleged against him is doubtless the fact that im his private opinions he preiers the restoration policy of Congress to that of the President. However that may be, it is well known that he not only never Ings his polities into the discharge of his official du- ties, but that as a a judicial officer should do, he abstains wholly from any inter- ference whatever im politics. It is notorious that he his official duties, one and all, with serupulous care and integrity, and thatin so doing he saves annually, perhaps, hundreds of thousands of dollars to the widows and orphans of this District. His conscien- tious harge of his duties stancs grievous- ly im the way of the success of the schemes of ebysters sone Nothing would suit them better than the appointment of some nose of wax in Mr- Robbin's stead, which more or less of them are new beheved to be striving to bring «bout.
